BCE Esports Gala Day

The BCE annual Esports Gala Day was held on Monday 19 June – with Southern Cross Catholic College - Official Scarborough’s Team 2 of five students taking out the top spot, and St Columban's College Caboolture team the runners up.

They competed in Minecraft games against 130 fellow students from 16 BCE schools in 26 teams for the title of Esports champions.
The Gala Days, held Monday 19 June at Southern Cross Catholic College for northern schools and on Wednesday 21 June at Beenleigh’s Trinity College for southern schools, highlights the positive aspects of technology and gaming, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and strategic thinking similar to traditional sports.

With the results of this highly competitive day one event, it’s clear screen time can be very productive for students across BCE.
Originally established to maintain connection and engagement among students during the COVID-19 pandemic, the event focused on physical representations of learning, and over the years has evolved into a technology-driven experience with an emphasis on game design using Minecraft.

BCE organisers say the events empower students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and connect with peers who share their passion for technology and gaming.

Congratulations Southern Cross Catholic College!
