In Queensland, it is compulsory for children to complete Prep prior to progressing to Year 1. Your child is eligible to enrol in if they turn five years of age by 30 June in the year of intended enrolment. In certain circumstances, early or delayed entry to Prep may be considered where it is deemed to be in the best educational interest of the child
Please refer to the table below as a guide to when your child will be eligible for Prep in all Queensland schools.

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your child. While every school offers learning opportunities, Catholic schools provide an education that nurtures the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
At our school, your child will be known, valued and supported as an individual. We strive to create a welcoming community where students feel a sense of belonging, develop strong relationships and are encouraged to become their very best version of themselves.
Catholic education is grounded in values such as compassion, respect, service, inclusion and justice. These values are woven through everyday school life, helping students grow into confident young people who care for others and make a positive contribution to their community.
Enrolment forms for Prep should be completed before at least Term 1, for enrolment the following year, however an enrolment application for your child can be done at any time prior to this.
It is assumed all students attending primary school at SCCC will move to the Secondary Campus for high school in Year 7. Parents who have students in the primary campuses will be asked to confirm their child's Year 7 enrolment in Year 6.
Online enrolment applications for other year levels can be completed at any time during the year, and acceptance will be subject to selection criteria and positions available.
While Southern Cross Catholic College is a Catholic school, we are open to all families seeking a faith-based education in a welcoming and inclusive community. We celebrate the diversity of the families we serve and invite everyone to participate in and support the Catholic traditions, beliefs and values that guide our schools and enrich the educational experience of every student. Children who are baptised Catholic are given priority of enrolment at Brisbane Catholic Education schools.
If your child is placed on our waitlist, you will be kept informed throughout the enrolment process. If an availability arises, families will be contacted and offered a place where possible.

We welcome students and families who share in the values and ethos of a Catholic Christian education. Each application we receive is judged on its merit however where limited availability exists, priority may be given to:
- Students from Catholic families who are baptised or have a demonstrated commitment to the faith within their Parish community
- A sibling of a current or past student of the College
- A current student of another BCE Catholic school, other Catholic schools or Kindergartens managed by Catholic Early EdCare
Families are encouraged to review the BCE Enrolment Policy before submitting an application.

Prep students engage with the Foundation Year of the Australian Curriculum through a play-based program that encourages curiosity. In our safe and nurturing environment, children learn through exploration and discovery, supported every step of the way by our caring and supportive teachers. With access to a purpose-built Prep precinct, students build confidence, form friendships and develop the skills they need for a positive and successful transition to Year 1.
