Southern Cross Catholic College has a rich tradition of outstanding sporting achievement and today, students from all four campuses have the opportunity to benefit from the participation in sport at various levels and to pursue their interests in a wide range of individual and team sports which include swimming, athletics, cross country, basketball, touch football, rugby league, cricket, AFL, netball, futsal and soccer.

Annual carnivals for swimming, athletics and cross country are held throughout the year from Prep - Year 12 and students in Years 7 to 12 compete in carnivals at district, regional, state and national levels.

The College supports students wanting to trial for individual or team sports and a number of students have many recent successes in state and national levels. The Sunshine Coast District trials are usually the first stepping stone for students to represent the College at the swim, cross country and athletics meets.

The secondary campus is also a member of the South East Colleges Association (SECA) which was established to facilitate and promote a spirit of camaraderie, competitiveness and support among its co-educational college members.

There are three aspects to SECA Sport:

  1. SECA Sport Seasons

For secondary students, sport occurs over two seasons in Terms 2 and 3. All students participate in either a sport or an alternative activity, as offered by the College.

  1. SECA Gala Days

Some sports are offered as a gala day only where students can nominate to trial to represent the College.

  1. SECA Carnivals

Carnivals are held for swimming, cross country and athletics where the top athlete in each sport compete against those from other schools in order to be crowned the champion school.
